Data sources body of work

  • Last meeting: Paper presented examining coverage and fitness of public digital data assets in relation to input requirements of a framework for testing the value proposition of more circular configurations in resource flows

    • Built up a metadata catalogue capturing key sources
  • Analogy: 16th Century maps still allowed for the ocean to be navigated

  • Alongside recommendations, actions the Hub is taking include to:

    1. Fill data gaps through data pooling mechanisms;

    2. Develop public data assets, including a dashboard tracking the UK circular economy across multiple scales

Data collation

  • Have begun building the pipelines to extract data for building up our own CE data assets and insights

  • Database mapping information collected to identifiers to enable ongoing data retrieval and aggregation

    • Capturing parameters including lifespan, mass so far. To extend to treatment routes and value
  • Further validation and harmonisation, and where gaps, estimation

  • Interfacing with a systems dynamic model developed by Esmaeil, starting first with permanent magnets

Apps

  • Modular development. Initial example estimating stock and outflows using inflow data and use-phase lifespan assumptions
  • Apps to be integrated into wider product-to-national level dashboard
